Stylo at the 2016 Architectural Digest Design Show in NYC

Stylo Furniture and Design stylo_life • Instagram photos and videos

We were excited to attend the Architectural Digest Design show in New York City this year, and left feeling incredibly inspired and ready to hit the drawing board with lots of new ideas.

We were happy to run into many friends and colleagues from other modern furniture design shops like Rexhill Furniture. We also checked out great retro-inspired work from Big Chill Appliances and SMEG USA, elegant Stillfried Wien and Dwell Studio pieces, and literally dozens more designers too numerous to mention.

There are so many exciting things happening in modern furniture design right now, and that’s a huge reason why we love to see the best custom furniture the world has to offer. Design is always changing, always evolving, finding new inspiration and taking unexpected turns. It’s this passion for making something that feels instantly unique and aesthetically appealing that keeps us committed to our craft, and we can see the same goes for the great designers we saw at the show.

Check out the pictures we snapped all over the showroom floor, or follow us on Instagram for photographs of all our travels and work.

Custom High Fidelity Speakers

Recently completed, a pair of high fidelity line array speakers finished in teak. I collaborated with Frank Ostrander, a sound specialist and speaker engineer to fabricate these two amazing speakers. More importantly than their good looks and design, these speakers deliver beautiful sound. They measure six feet tall and rest on custom, black steel bases. These speakers deliver big sound and have actually been designed to perform in large spaces, as well as smaller spaces. My living room feels like a consort hall! If anyone is interested, feel free to come by for a test drive.IMG_2315 IMG_2311 IMG_2309 IMG_2226 IMG_2218 IMG_2204 IMG_2202 IMG_2187 IMG_2185 IMG_2202 IMG_2187

Custom Architectural Millwork in Tuxedo Park, NY

Michael DeMarco of DeMarco Contracting in Nyack, NY recently commissioned Stylo Furniture & Design to fabricate specialized architectural details for the Regna residence in Tuxedo Park, NY. We used sapele, an excellent exterior-grade hardwood for all of the architectural millwork. Stylo fabricated several Victorian-style roof gable brackets, as well as 4 louvered vents for the large gabled facades. We look forward to doing more work with Michael on this large-scale residential project in the months ahead.louvered gable vent detail in sapele by stylo furniture & design

Custom Walnut and Ash Entertainment Center

One of Stylo Furniture & Designs latest commissions was for a modern yet traditional, custom, walnut entertainment center in New Jersey. Robert & Jim had very specific design requirements, both aesthetically and functionally. This unit was tailor-made to fit in their living room, under a wall-mounted, flat screen television and in-the-wall speakers. The compartments were specifically sized to house a variety of audio and visual equipment. The doors feature ash panels and notched pulls to accentuate the overall design of the piece. Ample storage for various media and accessories has been accounted for as well. Stylo specializes in this kind of design; clean, minimalist, yet warm and inviting. Round Dining Table Project

Francesca’s Round Cherry Dining Table and Teri’s Round Walnut Dining Table

I recently had the opportunity to build the largest round dining table to date! I took one of my original round dining table designs and expanded the footprint of the base to simply create a larger version of it. The larger majority of my tables are typically 48″ and 54″ in diameter. 42″ is the smallest diameter suitable for this design. My client choose cherry and I found some super premium material from which to create this piece. This 60″ table will seat up to 8 people comfortably. The unique design of the pedestal base offers great stability, and clearance for your feet and legs as well. The thick 1 1/4″ top give this table a substantial, yet refined look. One of the beauties of this design is that it is highly customizable; as it can be made in many different sizes, and out of any choice of wood available. I’ve made many out of walnut and maple and have often used a combination of one type of wood (like walnut), and a contrasting base (like maple) for the base. Endless possibilities! If you are looking for a round dining table, please let me know what you may be interested in.

The second table pictured in this post is a 54″ round walnut dining table. Beautiful American black walnut was used for this piece. I sold this piece through CutModern in California, a great source for furniture and furnishings that are refreshing and modern. Please check out their beautiful website and offerings at www.cutmodern.com. Like all of my dining room and coffee tables, I use a highly durable and waterproof, satin finish.

I hope you like what you see!
